Installation

The system may be delivered on:

  • 1.2 Mbyte, 8 inch or 5 1/4 inch double-sided diskettes

or

  • 0.3 Mbyte, 8 inch single-sided diskettes.

You must use the same kind of diskettes throughout the installation procedure. You may (1) install the OE Basic Modules with desired language or (2) add desired language to OE. If you add desired language to OE, remember that you have to add up the required user space to user ND-OPERATIONS. Check with the column "Add.lang." under prerequisites on page 1. The installation procedure is fully interactive, which means that once started, it will continuously check the operation. It will inform the operator if any error occurs and tell how to proceed. The operator is also asked some questions about the specific configuration. By typing '?' and ENTER some additional information is provided.

You will be asked about which OE modules you want to install.

How to start the installation

- Remember prerequisites, see page 1.

- The installation must be run from SINTRAN

- Log in as SINTRAN user name SYSTEM.

- Insert the diskette containing the directory name 211068A<rev>-<lang>-01 into the diskette station. NOTE! <lang> means language suffix ('EN' or 'NO')

- Execute these commands (operator input is underlined and parameters are enclosed in angle brackets):

@ENTER-DIRECTORY,211068A-<lang>-01
DEVICE NAME: FLOPPY-DISC-<drive no.>
DEVICE UNIT: <floppy unit>
@(211068A:FLOPPY-USER)INSTAL-OE

The installation procedure has now started. It is self-explanatory.

  • If you install at least one of the products
    • User Area Manager
    • Backup and Restore with TRUE
    • Configuration Dictionary
    • Status Program
    • File Manager

You must remember to update your HENT-MODE file under user SYSTEM with

@MODE (ND-OPERATIONS)Oe-LOAD:MODE,,
  • If the Configuration Dictionary is installed

Insert (into) the LOAD-MODE file under user SYSTEM behind the point where you start User Environment:

@(ND-OPERATIONS)OE-FUNC start-server

This command checks that the current time is later than stop time, if not, it sets completion code to 34747B and LOAD-MODE must take appropriate actions to handle it.

  • If the Configuration Dictionary is installed

insert (into) the STOP-MODE file before the point where you stop User Environment:

@(ND-OPERATIONS)OE-FUNC stop-server

This command stores the stop time.

  • For extended NOTIS support, NOTIS-DS-C and NOTIS-ID-B are required.
  • Operator must have appropriate access to the NOTIS-DS archive
MAILING-LIST/OUTTRAY/(SYSTEM)MAILBOX

to be able to update the mailing list

  • Anyone can use the OPERATOR ENVIRONMENT menu system by connecting the menu system to a User Profile in USER ENVIRONMENT (UE-PMAN). Example of a user profile for a user with maximum authorization:
User name         : JOHN BROWN
Password          :
Standard task     : UE-MENU
Language          : ENGLISH
User level        : ADVANCED
User groups       : 0
Authorization     : SUPERVISOR Sintran: YES Letters: 0
Main user area    : ND-OPERATIONS
Alternative areas : 1 Enter: SYSTEM with correct password
Menu system       : (ND-OPERATIONS)OEM-MENUE

Main user area does not need to be ND-OPERATIONS.

Any authorization codes for SINTRAN, other than SYSTEM as alternative area, will decrease the number of functions for a user of OPERATOR ENVIRONMENT.
