So what have I got?

Machines

Other hardware

Software

disks

2016-05-28: I got some removable disks (cartridge disks? disk packs?)

  • 1 x type CDC Model 9848-24
  • 1 x type Control Data Model 9848-24
  • 3 x type Control Data Model 848-24

Perhaps all are the same model?

floppies

5.25 inch

The 5.25 inch floppies I have.

2013-10-27: a 5.25 inch floppy image (uncompressed, I simply used dd). Although it was labeled "URD" something on the (paper) label, it turns out it had something else on it. Looks like it has PERFORM, FILE-MAN and some U-E files on it. Unfortunately, I have not recorded from where I got this floppy.

2013-02-11: I visited a kind man who gave a few 5.25 inch floppies with ND software on it, plus a sealed box of unused floppies (3M - DS, HD - 5.25 inch, box of 10). The ND floppies are

8 inch

The 8-inch floppies I have.

2016-06-30: from a colleague at work I got a 8 inch floppy.

  • 210518C01-NO-01S USER-ENVIRONMENT. User name: FLOPPY-USER, Prod. release date: 861124 861021. No idea if it still works or not.

tape

2016-05-28: in today's haul I got 9 (magnetic) tapes, the spools are about 7 inches in diameter (add about one centimeter for the protective case), the tape itself is about 0.5 inch wide. some tapes are unlabeled, most carry a "Racal-Zonal" label, one has "Fully Tested to 3200 F C I", "Racal-Zonal", "CALCULUS COMPUTER TAPE" on the same label. (Note to self: more tapes are available, if I can figure out a way to read them)

  • 9 x 0.5 inch wide tapes, perhaps this is 9-track tape? Is this what is called CCT (computer compatible tape)?

Luckily, the tapes have an index / contents written down on paper stored inside the tape box.

paper tape

2016-05-28: in this haul I got a paper tape, see below. (Note to self: more paper tapes are available, if interested.)

  • 1 x 8-hole paper tape containing RUNOFF:SYMB (text both punched and written with pencil on tape)
