F16 flight simulator

The F16 flight simulator computer complex uses 5 processors, 1 NORD-10/S and 4 NORD-50s.

The computer complex consists of 6 cabinets, one for each processor plus a special I/O cabinet. The NORD-10/S with its private multiport memory and I/O system is contained on one cabinet. The 4 NORD-50s are in four separate cabinets.

The I/O cabinet contains the following:

  • 3 I/O crates for connecting the customer produced I/O interfaces. The interfaces will access the memory via UNIVERSAL DMA modules supplied by ND.
  • Shared memory. Multiport memory accessible from all the processors and in addition the DISK DMA channel.
  • 16 and 32 bit multiplexors for accessing the 4 port shared memory.
  • Plug-panels for connecting the customer produced DMA channels directly to ports in the multiport memory system (LFI1, LFI2 and LFI3).
  • Channel amplifiers for amplifying the DMA channel having access to the multiport memory located in all 6 cabinets.[1] --Torfinn (talk) 22:52, 19 April 2014 (CEST)
