ND-110 Satellite model 988 with CPU number 21251 is a ND-110 Satellite that once was the property of Kungliga Bostadsstyrelsen and it still got the original installation on the hard disk. It's been fitted with some extra cards and the CPU is replaced with a ND-120 CPU. The CPU-number is not changed as the prom with the ID is sitting on the back plane. It booted without any problem.
Configuration
There is a high probability that the cards installed is not what was in it from the beginning. It's been almost filled to the limit and the only thing missing is the HDLC/MEGALINK card.
- Hard disk : 120 MB Micropolis SCSI disc
- Floppy : 5.25" floppy
- Tape : SCSI tape streamer is installed with one tape and is working perfectly.
- Slot 1 : PIOC/256
- Slot 2 : ETHERNET IF II
- Slot 3 : CPU, ND-120CX with 4MByte memory
- Slot 4 : SCSI / FLOPPY
- Slot 5 : 2 MBYTE RAM
- Slot 6 : Unoccupied (HDLC / MEGALINK)
- Slot 7 : 8 TERM. IF
Operating system
Currently installed and booting SINTRAN III - VSX/500 K
Disk image analysis
This is some notes taken when analyzing the disk image to extract SYSTEM password and other information about the system. Addresses are in bytes and hexadecimal for easier handling by the binary editor. Pointers is addressed in disk blocks of 2048 bytes.
- Directory entry starts at 0x7e0
- Object file index pointer is subindexed and points to 0x3bfe000
- User file index pointer is subindexed and points to 0x3bff000

- Bit-file pointer is contigous and points to 0x3b97000
- SYSTEM password is 0x5757 = 7GEG but that doesn't work! Bummer!
History
- Delivered at KBS.
- Taken off active duty.
- Donated to FUN, Umeå.
- Sitting in a basement storage until may 2009.
- Disk and tape station removed and backed up in august 2009
- First boot in over ten years in september 2009
Future plans
- Extract the system password
- Test the hardware
- Use it for testing of ND-100 cards
- Use it for imaging 5.25" floppies
- Connect it to internet via a serial to TCP-IP converter.
Location
The system belongs to Göran Axelsson and is located in Umeå, Sweden.
