Installation

The system may be delivered on:

• A - 1.2 Mbyte, 8 inch or 5 1/4 inch double-sided diskettes

or

• B - 0.3 Mbyte, 8 inch single-sided diskettes

Use the same kind of diskettes ("A" or "B") throughout the whole installation procedure. You may install (1) the SPRINT basic modules with desired language, (2) add desired language to existing SPRINT or (3) change the number of printer control modules. The installation procedure is fully interactive, which means that once started, it will continuously check the operation. It will inform the operator if any error(s) occurs and of what to do to proceed.

The operator is also asked some questions about the specific configuration. By typing '?' and ENTER some additional information is provided.

How to start the installation

- The installation must be run from SINTRAN.

- Log in as SINTRAN user name SYSTEM.

- Insert the diskette containing the directory name 211056A<rev>-<lang>-01 into the diskette station.

- Execute these commands (operator input is underlined and parameters are enclosed in single brackets):

@ENTER-DIRECTORY,211056-<lang> FLOPPY-DISC-<drive> <floppy unit>
@(211056:FLOPPY-USER)SSY-INST-A

The installation procedure will now start. It is self-explanatory.

How to update your HENT-MODE, LOAD-MODE and STOP-MODE files

When you install the system, remember to insert

@MODE (ND-OPERATIONS)SPRINT-LOAD:MODE,,

in your HENT-MODE file, and

@SPRINT /STOP-SPRINT

in any STOP-MODE files, and

@SPRINT /START-SPRINT

in your LOAD-MODE file, after the START-SPOOLING commands, but before any appending of SETUP-files for the printers (this is important because otherwise the running of SETUP will be aborted and the printer will be incorrectly initialized). NOTE: Remember to run SETUP-files with status 'UNCONVERTED' if you append them to the SPRINT-queues.
